In the Saxon Switzerland sportive climbing exists since the end of the 19th century.
Some famous climbers are Bernd Arnold, Manfred Vogel, Jürgen Höfer and Klaus Schäfer. There are some strict regulations in the national park for the protection of the delicate sandstone and important areas of unspoiled nature. Please be warned about climbing without neccessary experiences.
